Default geography and internet poker

for everyone who is or is contemplating playing on line for a living:
why not live in a place like india, bali, thailand, or even mexico. the cost of living is significantly cheaper ....especially in a place like india. you could play micro limit and live really well there....and if you were playing high limit, well, live like a king.
poker players are notoriously cheap, so i figured this would be a no-brainer for them. the cost of living in india, or even a nice tropical place like bali, is about 1/100th (if that) of what it is in the USA. why isn't anyone doing this???

Some people are doing this.

Also pick a location in a time zone that allows you to play the peak hours during the time of day that suits you.

If I were to consider this. But how can one give up a retirement plan and medical.

The main things I have been looking at are:

1 - Climate (I do not want to be forced inside and turn into a fat, non-tan old goat).

2 - Accessablity (Remote areas are just not my thing).

3 - Lower Cost of Living - Buying a smaller house increases your bank roll! If you rent, then it does not matter as much.

4 - Social life - People, need to see them.

5 - Card rooms - live action is a nice break from the computer, maybe about a hour or so away, a little less.

What else?
Name places that would great to live in?

1 - Southern Cal, USA - higher cost of living, but if you move east an hour or so, it gets cheaper.

2 - Southern NJ - cheaper than NYC Area, close to the beach and AC. Winters suck (November - March are cold)
(* Northern NJ is nice, but again, winter turns me off. It is half way between Foxwood and AC *)
3, ... ??

Lots of people have family and friends they don't want to leave behind. That is typically why people don't move away regardless of profession.

And going to smaller remote countries with low cost of living has many draw backs as well. The big one being medical treatment. Also well a new culture might be nice for some, I love the good ol' US of A culture myself.

I think SoCal is the spot to be for sure!

Another interesting point is the legal issues.
If I possesed the skill to play on line for a living I wouldn't mind living in Thailand for a few years.

However, gambling is illegal in Thailand, I don't know how it is when it comes to gambling on line but there are no casinos allowed.

Anyone knows?
