It's not that bad once you get away from the hordes waiting for $5-10. FWIW, I do better at $10-20 & stud tables at MCC than I do at any other tables, either at Greektown or MCC.

Is it like this 24 hours a day on the weekends, or is there a time in the morning where it is much slower before it picks up for the afternoon?

I was planning on going this weekend, and wondered if it would make a difference if I got there early or not.

Also on a side note. What is the typical buy in for a 5/10 game? I dont want to buy in for too little, but I also dont want to label myself as a big spenda.
Finally, what is the typical toke for a 5/10 game?

I used to think I didn't have the BR for $10-20 until I played it. Because the players are generally much less erratic, my profit is much more consistent and I'm able to treat it like a part time job. I still have some swings, but they're not as drastic and I haven't had a losing session since I moved up.

If you're comfortable setting $500 on the table, you should really try moving up.

It's mostly Friday & Saturday evenings during 6-11pm. You can call ahead (1-877-777-0711) up to an hour before you arrive to reserve a seat. How fast the list moves depends entirely on how the games flow. Some nights I don't have much of a wait for a $10-20 seat and some nights it's like watching paint dry.

$200-300 is normal. If you see someone buy in for more, they're probably just waiting for a $10-20 table.

Same as all the other tables, $1. If you tip more that's up to you.

One thing you need to know if you're fairly new. While most of the dealers have really improved a lot since they opened the poker room, a couple of dealers are still guilty of grabbing cards too early. This happened most recently at the NL table on Tuesday night and there was quite the row.

Above all else, PROTECT YOUR HAND until you fold or get chips pushed to you.

I alway's sit down with $300 for 5-10. I don't tip. They have a communal tip system anyway, which ruins the whole point of tipping. I do not think $500 is a big enough BR for 10-20. I don't think it's even enough for one session. I've played 10-20 twice before (winning $200,then losing $100.) It is very easy to lose $500 in a matter of hours at 10-20. Just because it hasn't happened to you doesn't mean it won't if you play often enough.

For a full time pro player, no. For someone that can reload easily from another source of income, it's fine.

25 BBs is pretty standard. If you need more, you may want to examine your game.

I've played at the $10-20 tables 2-3 times a week for several months now, much more than your dabbling at it twice. If you find it easy to lose 25BBs, you need to either re-examine your game or stick to low stakes. While I realize that I could lose $500 in a single session, it's not very likely and it would only erase my profits from my last two sessions. And as I said before, my swings were much more wild at the lower stakes games, which I attribute to more erratic players and a lower percentage of regulars.

I'm not trying to brag or bash you. My point is that if you're comfortable with putting $500 on the table and not sweating it, you should move up to $10-20. It doesn't sound like you're there yet and that's fine. Playing outside your comfort level is always a bad idea and I don't want to push you into a game that you're not ready for.
