Default Very questionable hand

Confused on every street. Comments?

Pacific Poker .25/.50 10 handed no reads
Hero is BB with 5 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 4 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]
UTG raises, UTG+1 folds, UTG+2 calls, MP1 calls, MP2 folds, MP3 calls, CO folds, button calls, SB folds, Hero calls
After UTG raised I clicked 'fold in turn' but after all the cold calling I decided to play.
Flop: 5 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 4 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] Q [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] six players (12 sb)
Hero checks, UTG bets, UTG+2 calls, MP1 folds, MP3 folds, button calls, Hero raises, all call
Right?
Turn: 10 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] four players (10 bb)
Hero bets, all call
River: 4 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (14 bb)
Hero bets, all call

Final pot 18bb
Results if you want them

Bet the flop in the hope of UTG raising to protect your hand. If he does raise, reraise when the action comes back to you.

Since you didn't bet out, and no one pushed back, the turn and river bets are good.

This is exactly how I would play it.

I make the preflop call here too, you're getting 11:1 closing the action.

Check raise on the flop is perfect given that UTG raised preflop.

Turn, good bet. River, obvious.

This gets less into the pot if it works (maybe one coldcaller to UTG's raise), and less into the pot if it doesn't work (one SB from each caller, no chance to raise). Those with the draws to outdraw you would cold call the raise anyway. Flush draws, OESD's (most call with gutshots), and top pairs aren't folding.

I'd like to hear more discussion on check raising versus betting out and hoping for a raise.

I was going to say that the check-raise was atrocious. Bottom two pair is NOT a slow-play hand, and it is not a hand that you want to build a big pot with or force your opponents to peel one more off. With bottom two pair, you want to fold people out. On this hand, you might achieve that by betting out and getting raised by UTG. Check-raising just builds a pot and gives draws the correct odds to continue against you, which is the opposite of what you want to accomplish.

The rest of the hand is fine.

I like it. Pretty low risk hand easy to play, getting 11-1 on your call, and from all the cold-calling the majority of the players are bad.

Hand pretty much plays itself
