Re: Should The United States permit euthanasia
look to the left, scroll down, right above OTT, there is this forum called politics, which pertains to all sorts of political issues involving foreign policy, domestic issues, and elections. Euthanasia in America would be a domestic issue. You are likely to get plenty of educated replies, instead of crap like this.

Re: Should The United States permit euthanasia
I honestly think this is a good place for it. Just to see what the average person thinks about it.
They can show how uneducated on end of life issues they are. |

Yes. A situation a year ago made me rethink this issue, or i guess i should say, made me fully explore all sides of the issue.

If it was a gray area half way inbetween OOT and politics I would give you an answer. But it's not, this is 100% politics. |

Re: Should The United States permit euthanasia
No.
Assisted suicide, yes, under fairly strict guidelines. But allowing others to perform "mercy" killing, no way. Too many possible abuses. As a libertarian, I believe that each of us retains the right to terminate our own life. From the point of law, however, the motive force behind the termination of ones life must be one's own hand. This is a difficult question, but one must be cautious of the slippery slope. We don't want to fall into the trap of exerting undue influence on the aged or infirm to "do the right thing" by getting out of the way. |

[/ QUOTE ] The average person doesn't want to be dragged into political conversations that often turn nasty and spiteful (like this one.) Just admit that you unkowinlgy posted in the wrong forum, no one wil think less of you for it. Imagine if everyone wanted to just find out what the avergae person thought of every issue in the Politics forum, and what that would do to this forum. |

Re: Should The United States permit euthanasia
I think it should be required.
No option for that though. |
