Re: Sunglasses at the table.... U use them??
I don't see how this relates to NL. But in general, I don't want people to think I have something to hide. So I don't wear them. I was reading cardplayer at a friends house and Phil Ivey made some funny comments about sunglasses. If you read it you know what im talking about...

Re: Sunglasses at the table.... U use them??
I never wear sunglasses. I find that at most of the games in AC that I play the tourists in these games 10/20-20/40 have no idea what to look for on your eyes. It seems most of the people wearing sunglasses at these tables are just kids trying to look the part of a hustler and the real players take them apart. If you don't want good players gunning for you don't wear them save them for tournaments when the players know what to look for.

Re: Sunglasses at the table.... U use them??
I don't wear them personally because I find it annoying in the poorly lit Greektown room, but I do find that it's a little harder to read opponents when they make huge bets at big pots. I find I'm better at reading them when they don't have them. I also find that I prefer to see them cry when I break them... j/k. Do you think your opponents are good enough to get reads on you? If so, wear them. If not, don't bother tipping them off.

no, i don't think they are good enough to get reads on me... i wear them so they can't see where i'm looking.. i find comfort in knowing that i can stare at someone's every move and they have no idea i'm doing it...

Re: Sunglasses at the table.... U use them??
I never wear sunglasses, and to be honest I have never played with any strong players who do although I'm sure many exist.
when you're wearing sunglasses, people know you're staring at them or whatever. people with sunglasses generally like to stare others down for whatever reason. so I think the reasoning that you can stare at others without them knowing isn't really true. If I'm playing with someone wearing sunglasses, I just assume they are staring at me and usually it's easy to tell if they are anyways. I actually like it when people stare me down and make a "read" because it usually means they're going to call me with ace high or something. my only other comment is on tells. I consider physical tells to be a fairly strong point in my game and I rarely if ever get a tell from someone's eyes. the most important things to me in making a physical read are timing and the way someone is sitting or carrying themselves (i.e. are they relaxed, nervous, staring straight ahead, etc). --turnipmonster |
