PartyPoker limiting high-stakes action?

It seems that in the last few days (week) Party has taken down 1 or 2 30/60 Holdem tables, 20/40 Stud table, 2 20/40 Omaha tables and some 200NL tables.

First of all, is that what everyone has observed?

Any opinions on what it means?

In my opinion, it's first of all a shrewd move - they make the same rake from lower limits as from high, but bad players get wiped out much quicker at high limits. When that happens, money basically gets taken out of circulation and ends up in some pro's pocker instead of endlessly circulating and eventually ending up with Party through the rake process. So by limiting high-limit or no-limit action Party is protecting their future stream of income.

Now, does that mean anything beyond them protecting their future income? Do they observe crazy action running out quickly? don't know. Maybe, maybe not.

the downside of higher limit tables is steep and not rewarded with increased rake.

they are so big that they do not have to offer higher limits, and that is ultimately much better for maintaining a player base. these games cost business in the long run, and the drop vs. risk is not even close to worth it.
