card-player article... a complete joke
The Hand:
Fixed Limit Hold'em, you are on the button with Q [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] Q [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] MP Raises Hero 3-bets SB Calls MP Calls Pot: 10 Small Bets (The author didn't even get this right) FLOP: J [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] T [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 7 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] SB Checks MP Checks Hero Bets SB Calls MP Raises Hero Calls SB Calls Pot: 11 Big Bets TURN: J [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] T [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 7 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] Q [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] SB Bets MP Raises Hero Calls SB 3-Bets MP Calls Hero Calls Pot: 20 Big Bets RIVER: J [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] T [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 7 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] Q [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 6 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] SB Bets MP Calls Hero Folds He got is right preflop, he got it right on the flop, he even got it right on the turn... but folding in the river... this guy must be on drugs. Quote from article "My queens are garbage. It’s less than a 1 percent chance they’re good". Is that so? Well you must know since you are a "professional". Read it yourself: Article This would, seriously, be an idiotic fold at ANY level. If he makes this kind of folds all the time he can't honestly be a winning player. and also... how the hell does an article like this get published in CardPlayer? Are they trying to make players worse or something?? Don't they have anyone read through what they publish? Yikes. Maybe soon they will hire "jack high" aswell... wouldn't that be a party. |

Re: card-player article... a complete joke
I thought it was common knowledge that about 2/3's of Card Player's articles are complete fluff?
There was a quote from an article last month that read something like, "it is correct to fold here. Unless you are playing your rush, then you could call this." |

[ QUOTE ]
Pot: 10 Small Bets (The author didn't even get this right) [/ QUOTE ] 1 SB from the big blind. Still doesn't change the fact that you can't fold top set for 1 river bet. |

The guy is on crack.
Most of the stuff written on cardplayer is of similar quality. |

I guess I'm an aspiring player, but not aspiring to get to the next level in his article.

The turn
[ QUOTE ]
even got it right on the turn [/ QUOTE ] I don't see why this isn't a turn 3-bet. Who are you putting on AK? It doesn't seem likely to me that anyone has it, unless MP has A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] specifically and players will often cap pre-flop with AKs. The board is draw heavy and the pot is big, I'm not interested in hoping for the overcall from the SB when he is fairly likely to call 2 cold anyway and I don't mind it getting capped here at all HU or 3way at all because JJ/TT from MP and QJ/QT/pair which has just picked up straight draw or flush draw from the SB seem more likely than AK from either player. |

What an absurd fold.

Re: card-player article... a complete joke
Yeah this is a pretty bad fold. The only way you fold here is if both of the other players show you their hands and one of them has AK.

Re: card-player article... a complete joke
Anyone else not like the turn call? Come on, all you are losing to is a flopped straight. Talk about not fearing monsters. I'd raise this turn, and if a blank falls on the river, like it did, and the action was bet, call, I'd raise again. Who would ever fold here?
