Default good no-limit book

I just returned from Vegas and tried out a couple of NL games for the first time.

I'm looking for recommendations for a good book or 2 on the subject of NL. ??? I did a search but there was a lot to sift through...

Thanks.

The best I know of the the NLHE section of Brunson's Super System (I hope I don't get banned for mentioning that book on a 2+2 forum) but I think that that's generally considered to be the standard, I've read it and i think it's a great book.

Sklansky wrote a section of that book.... The NLHE section of this book does not really apply that much to full ring small stakes online NLHE. I use this style of play in my home game and clean up.

It is worth a read tho, brunson has some interesting ideas in it.

Ciaffone's NL/PL book is good, and while not a NL book, his Middle Limit HE book is worth a read in regards to reading boards and being able to construct hands for your opponents.

Thanks everyone for the info.

Locally I play low limit, usually 4/8, since NL games are not typically spread in the closest casinos...

Anyway, on my trip to Vegas I found lots of "low stakes" NL games, so I had to try it out. (That is $40 - $100 buy in with 1/2 blinds.) I did ok in the first game and lost my buy-in in the second one.

My biggest problem was not knowing good betting/raising pre-flop. In one hand with pocket Q's, I raised to $15 and everyone folded and I won $6. In another with pocket J's, I tried something different and just raised $3, then betting $10 on a semi-ragged flop, and a guy with 56 offsuit rivered a straight after the flopping a gutshot.

Anyway, next time I'm in Vegas or Reno I want to know a little more prior to sitting down in a NL game. I had a lot of fun giving this a try, but making good decisions will make it even more fun.

Yes, I'm in Portland.

Send me a pm and maybe a home game would work out. I actually play in a few around here.
