JJ and flopping AAx.
2/4 Party (10 handed)
No read on UTG+1. I was either 8-tabling or new to the table. Or both maybe. UTG+1 folds, I raise with J [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]J [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], rest fold, SB completes, BB checks. 4 players to flop (8sb): A [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]A [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]3 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] Checked to me, I bet, UTG+1 calls. 2 to turn (5bb): 10 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Checks, I bet, UTG+1 calls. 2 to river (7bb): 2 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] Checks, I check. I was going to bet any non-heart. Good line, or missed value bet? |

Re: JJ and flopping AAx.
readless I don't think it's terrible. At 2/4 you can usually value bet this sort of thing, but with two legitimate ways to have you beat right now (a poor ace or a flush draw) I don't mind not risking the checkraise. At 3/6 I'm seeing a whole lot more people whose default is to checkraise the river with their newly made hand they've been check/calling with. I didn't feel it was as risky at 2/4 though.

Re: JJ and flopping AAx.
This is the kind of hand where you probably have the best hand, but if you bet you may be an underdog if he can call or raise. I don't think he has an A, and he may or may not have a flush, but lot's of people will cr a flush, and he won't call with that many hands. I'd estimate off the top of my head that if this guy doesn't fold to your river bet, you have a 35% chance of having the best hand, clearly not enough to value bet, but that's just a guess. And he clearly won't fold any hands that have you beat. Also I was a little confused, because you said first utg+1 folded, but then you said he was the one calling you. It could make a difference in what you put him on, if he's utg, or a blind.

Re: JJ and flopping AAx.
Opps my apologies. If I had the bison converter it would be more accurate.
UTG folds, UTG+1 called pre-flop. UTG+1 is the villain in the hand. Does anyone think betting this river is correct? and if so are you folding to a check-raise? |

Re: JJ and flopping AAx.
I check the river. Too many things to beat you out there, and you have to give him credit for calling you down with something. Regarding folding to a checkraise on the river, I'm not betting it unless I've already decided beforehand I'm calling him if he comes back over, if that makes any sense. Regardless of what he thinks you have, he knows as well as you do this is a scare card, prompting him to perhaps bluff with a lower PP.

Re: JJ and flopping AAx.
Often times I don't like betting when I HATE to see a checkraise. Most players are not capable of a CR bluff on the river, at least at smallish stakes, so if I get cr'd I would have to fold, but feel horrible about it. Therefore I just check so I make sure to see the showdown.

Yes betting the river and folding to a raise is correct.
