Default 2/5 NL live hand ?

Here's a 2/5 NL hand that got away from me. Should I have played it differently ?

Been through a bunch of bad beats on that table. I'm short stack with about $150, villain is somewhat of a LAG.

Hero is in BB w QQ.
Pre-flop called around to Hero (5 callers), raises it to 25.
MP1 and villain in CO call.
Flop comes JT9 rainbow.
$100 pot, Hero goes all-in ($125), MP1 folds, CO calls and show JT. No help on turn or river, I'm pissed and call it a night.

Should I have done it differently ? Pot sized pre-flop raise in BB with no raisers ok ? Do I just want to check the flop ? I'd hate to give a free card to Ax.

Don't be so hard on yourself.

Although you were a clear favorite before the flop...

...it was pretty much a coin-flip when the first 3 cards were laid out.

I think you played the hand fine.

Thanks, I'm trying to tell me that I didn't mess it up.
I thought the table was kinda loose, but I guess it's a matter of perspective (Joe Awada left a couple of hands earlier because "the table was too tight").

Maybe it's just the contrast to the night before, where I had a great run (whatcha gonna do wrong with K9, flop comes 999, and half the table bets into you ?).

Vegasvegas was this hand played in Vegas? If so, where? Ive been in many games here where your $25 raise from the BB after 5 limpers is not big enough. I dont know the texture of this particular table but some of the games I've played in you will get called by three to five of these players with all sorts of junk. If this is the case I think that your hand calls for a raise of maybe $35 to have a better chance of thinning out the field. It may sound like too big of a raise but anyone who has played in these games knows where I am coming from. Good luck.

Heh,

Well you just posted as I was posting and beat me to the board.
The "table was too tight." You can ignore my post.

Checking the flop is out of the question (unless you figure it will trap someone). You've got a short stack, the probable best hand, AND the probable best draw. Put the money in. And if someone bets you are going to put the money in anyway. And if everyone checks you'll wish you had bet. And betting is usually better than calling. As I said, checking has merit only if you can get someone to bluff or get a 3rd player to make a really bad call, such as with J4 3-flush.

I think you should raise more PF but I cannot put my finger on it. Raising only the pot doesn't work in early position since they get a good idea what you've got but you are outnumbered with a pretty obvious hand out of position. Raising more puts them to the test now, and reduces their implied odds by quite a bit.

Fine except with 5 callers and being out of position I think you should substantially over bet the pot when you raise preflop.
