Default a feminine table image

I play under a female persona (name and avatar) for fun, but also with the thought that it might possibly give me an advantage.

Has anyone found playing male or female affects how people play back at you in the SnGs? Do they respect your raises or not? Do they steal less or more?

I haven't found anything out of the ordinary except for the chat. Oftentimes I get questions about my name and city and icon, and am basically chatted up, which I generally ignore or answer yes or no (don't want to lead them on, after all ). I've never actively used chat to flirt or hit on anyone to see if that has an impact, though.

I just play my same SnGs and see the same results.

I do, however, find I get many more negative and rude remarks (the b- and c-words especially), such as one guy telling me that "the cXXXs are taking over golf and now they're taking over poker." I ignored that. After I busted him, he said, "Why don't you go cook something in the kitchen?"

I said, "I don't need to cook something, I can eat out with your money."

I rarely notice the gender of my opponents.

I'm pretty sure all the people I play against are men.

The other day two impersonators ("PornStar" and "SexxyBabe," or something like that) were chatting each other up - I'm sure they'll be disappointed when they find out they're both male.

Default who knows...

one thing i do know for sure is after a horrible run under my username (for about two months), i started playing under my girlfriend's username and cashed in about 60-70% ITM of the SNGs ($5 + $.50) i played (both one and two-table). i even won a $215 entry into the weekly $250,000 Guaranteed PS Tournament (my 2nd ever) via a $3 rebuy satellite with 500+ players, which i promptly took the tourney dollars instead and made about another $175 (free profit) at least playing more $5 + $.50 SNGs under her username (all of which happened in about a month). then as soon as i transferred all that profit over to my PS account (under my username), i immediately start another horrible run (as if i never left off from the previous one of two months...punctuated by many river beats and premium card kills). basically, i'm -EV and -$ under my username for a cumulative three months straight and had one of my best months ever under my girlfriend's username. a bunch of foulness if you ask me, or should i say....a bunch of femininess.

You should consider a sex-change.

I was very surprised a week ago when I saw a female name in my buddylist I didn't remember.

Turns out my RL friend had switched genders to generate more action. He says it works.

He's also done this in Diablo 2 and Everquest and always got more free [censored] in 2 weeks than I did in 2 years.

I think I need a name change, too.

This may be an unfounded prejudice, but I've noticed that most women in person and female avatars online play rather passively. I sometimes find myself playing differently against women as a result. I'll give them a little more credit when they're just calling, and I'll bet out more often instead of slowplaying.

I see it all the time, but perhaps I'm just confirming my bias. I've certainly run into some aggressive players with female avatars.
