Not enought money for Rebuy during Tourney...
Interesting problem came up yesterday at $100/20 NL H-em tourney in local casino.
Player 'X' went all-in and lost. He was 3 spots out of Big Blind. Wanted to rebuy, but had to run to ATM. Dealer said if he got up from table with zero chips, his spot would be dead, no deal - he's out of tournament. Player 'X' called over floor man, who said that the 'friendly rule' he uses in tournaments is that as long as there were no objections from ANYONE at table, he would give Player 'X' 3 minutes to get to ATM and back. BB/SB would be posted if needed on his return. While no one at table had problem with this and the player got back before his BB, I was wondering what the Tournament Director rule is for this? I assume, that if you have zero chips in stack and you don't put your money on table for a rebuy (or at least annouce rebuy AND NOT GET UP) your hand/spot is dead and you're out of tourney. At first I thought (to myself at the table) that as long as Player 'X' ran to ATM and got back by BB there wasn't any reason he couldn't get dealt a 'dead-hand' (just as if he left the table at any other time during tourney- e.g. ran to bathroom) - - but more I think about it - I don't think that is fair to other players at table/opens up other problems (e.g. might in some wierd way make it less likely that someone OTG would go all in if they knew they needed to run to ATM if they loose, but someone 4 spots off the BB knows they would have a few minutes to run to ATM???? Plus whole issues of 'posting BB/SB for someone that decides not to ever come back or if ATM is broken. Info on rule/ thoughts on situation? p.s.- good reminder - if you're gonna rebuy - bring the $$$$ |

Interesting question; try reposting on the "multitable tournaments" forum.
