Default 20/40 AA hand

Live 20/40 tight game

UTG is extremely tight-ABC, big hands only, and 3-4 bets PF or on the flop generally mean the goods.

UTG raises, folds to me in LP with aces, I 3 bet, folds to him - he caps, I call... heads up to the flop

Flop: K 3 6 rainbow

He bets, I raise, he 3 bets, I 4 bet, he 5 bets, I fold.

Against the type of "extremely tight" player you describe, 5 bets means he can beat your aces. I like your laydown. Only other way to play this is call (with no raises) all the way down and pray it's a split.

In his tight opinion, would he consider AK a good holding heads up against you? Otherwise, all he can hold is KK.

There's a four-bet cap preflop and a five-bet cap postflop? You're getting 18.5-1 to hit your set on the turn, where you would get at the very least 3 big bets if you hit. Not a good fold.

After your opponent put in the 5th flop bet, your effective odds (the size of the pot plus the money you would win if an ace fell on the turn) were sufficient to draw to two outs. Given your read, you should then fold if you did not hit your set on the turn.

Your fold was only a small mistake, though, and showed good hand-reading and discipline.

"There's a four-bet cap preflop and a five-bet cap postflop?"

In some casinos, if the betting round starts with more than two players, then the cap applies no matter how many players are left betting at the end. So, if this is the case, there would be a 4-bet cap pre-flop (since the blinds were still involved at the start of the action), but no cap on the flop when only two players were involved.

Probably small mistake.

If you call and Ace comes on the turn:

He realizes you probably just made a set, but thinks there is a chance you just have AK. He checks and calls turn and river. You make $0.20 with rake and tip.

If he bets, calls raise on turn and calls a bet on river, you make $2 with rake and tip.

If he bets turn, realizes you could only have a set of Aces and lays down his set, you lose $1.40.

When I have aces heads-up on a K63 rainbow flop, one of the last lines I'd choose is to put in 4 small bets on the flop and then fold before the turn. Maybe it's just me, but it works out pretty well.

I think that I play fairly tight, and given that a hand is heads up, I would more often than not cap it with AK. If he is that tight, that he will only cap here with AA and KK, then laying down the hand to a 3-bet would have been more wiser. I would think that he has 1 of 3 hands. AA, KK and AK. ABC player, not a tighty whitey!
