Default Is this an instant fold?

Dear All,

$2/$4 Party tables.

You raise with KK, maybe 5 callers and an A flops you fire and are raised..... To all the experts out there what is the correct play here? (As I have been in this situation SO many times).

In addition does the same strategy hold true for:

QQ............ and a K flops...

Regards David

No, you shouldn't instantly fold. You probably should slow down as your hand may only be a bluff-catcher. (I won three pots this afternoon with QQ vs. JJ, QQ vs. 77, and QQ vs. Q3 in this situation.) You also may be behind, but you could have more than 2 outs: If your opponent has bottom two, another ace helps you.

You need to look at the board. Is there a possible flush-draw? Is there a reasonable straight draw? If so, your opponent may be semi-bluffing, hoping to get a free card or get you to fold a better made hand.

There are other factors to consider, too, such as the size of the pot, the preflop actions, and what your position is in relation to the player who raised.

So you are in early position and bet post-flop. You said there were 5 callers behind you.....

If there is one raise, I'll see it, slow down and bet to the end. If that raise is reraised, or even called before it comes back to me, I fold (unless pot odds make it worth seeing the next card).
