Re: KK, hero bets turn to get a free showdown...
With MP1 raising pre-flop, but not coming alive on the turn or river, I bet the river for value.

Re: KK, hero bets turn to get a free showdown...
I think the correct play depends upon your read of your opponent. Against a player who readily calls down with any piece of the board a river bet becomes obviously appropriate. Against a tight player, the choice becomes more difficult.

Re: KK, hero bets turn to get a free showdown...
Doesn't it depend more on passivity than tightness? Hero almost certainly beats any raising hand other than an ace.* MP1 check/called the turn ace. So in order for Hero to be behind, MP1 has to be aggressive enough pre-flop to raise with an unpaired ace but passive enough post-flop to check call when his top pair hits. I have played opponents like that, but without the specific read I would bet the river.
* The one unlikely exception might be a very passively played TT, slowplaying the set on the flop then scared of pocket aces on the turn. |

Re: KK, hero bets turn to get a free showdown...
The opponent was very passive.
Against agressive opponent I would've bet the river. /ode |
