Default Straddle ruling

Observed this the other night (3-6 limit)... Player A straddles... cards are dealt... MP raises, LP re-raises, Player A calls, MP tries to re-raise(cap) but the floor is called... and the floor rules that MP may only call... explanation: Straddler is the only player that may re-raise(cap) to 15.

Is this correct?

The only time the straddler has last action is (a) if no one raises and they would have the option to raise or (b) it's raised to him and there are raises left.

I believe the floor was mistaken however the floors decision is always final in most cardrooms.

That is an odd ruling. Most of the time, the room either allows the raises to remain constant, or go up by one when there is a straddle, i.e. it might be a cap at $12 (three raise limit) or it might be a cap at $15 (three raise limit when there is a straddle). Saying that only the straddler has the right to cap it at $15 seems extremely unusual. Either the floorman made a bad ruling, or perhaps this cardroom has an odd rule regarding straddles.

Yes, I was involved in a game were TheDude straddled the big blind, GuyOnTilt put in a 3 bet immediatly after and they both looked at me to cap it. When the cards came out I had AA, and put in the 4th bet. Bernie folded to the preflop cap.

An MP player won the pot with Jack-crap when a second jack fell on the turn. It really was a good game to bad I dropped a rack.

Akwesasne Mohawk Casino in NY on NY, Ontario, Quebec border.

I asked a different floor person last night and they gave the more normal answer... maybe someone was having a bad day?

the rule is generally a 3 raise maximum. since a straddle is not a raise usually 3 raises are then allowed. straddles and restraddles are very common in big bet games.
