Default JJJA6 on the flop.....did I play it wrong?!?!?

Did I do the wrong thing.........?
3 people left in the tournament I am second in chips, I am holding AJ off suit. There are only small raises before the flop and I just call (3rd place is very low on chips, and I am just wanting him out). The flop comes JJ6, 3rd in chips goes all in and so does the chip leader........I have JJJA6 and call the all in that risks all of my chips......Chip leader flips over J6 and takes both of us out at the same time!
Was there a mistake on my part or just bad luck?

I don't think you did anything wrong. You likely more than double up on this hand plus some from the short stack all in, and worst case, as happened here, you get second. Only two hands have you beat at this point, 66 and J6, which he happened to have.

IMO, nothing but pure bad luck... not going all in here would have been the bigger mistake.

This was actually a weekly game of about 10 people, we get together and play a "no-limit tournament". It gives us a break from online playing!
