Default Best advices for beginners

How about trying to get some good advices for beginners in low SnG($5-20)? Maybe try to keep them 1-5 sentences (not intended to make any sort of guide)? Maybe some "most common mistake" and "do's and dont's"? Maybe try to keep it short and give all new poker players a fresh start and some motivation

(I consider myself is a beginner in NL SNG, so I guess I start this thread for my own sake as well as for others)

My advice: For every game you play, read at least 30 minutes on this SnG-forum.

Fold. A lot.

Also, read the SNG FAQ sticky thread. A lot.

There are some posters who POST 30 posts for every game they play...

Anyway, my best one-line advice:

Play patiently, aggressively, and never get emotional about it. Good luck.

I agree the SNG FAQ stickied at the top of this forum is great.

These links go into some more detail on the topics there and really helped me start to see what was going on during a tournament and where my opportunities were.

Some stragegy essays

and this a discussion with even more links about which hands to use for a push all-in and which hands to call with

Search for the 2+2 member eastbay and look at some of the discussions where he's involved about the math and science that are the foundation of good NL Hold'em play.

Don't think that every big bet is a bluff attempt to steal the pot. (It took me a while to realize this)

Don't bluff early in tourney.
