Default Oklahoma allows Poker

Forget Bush v. Kerry. Forget a critical swing election for Senate. I headed to the polls yesterday morning with one goal in mind, to do my part to help a tribal gaming bill pass that will allow me to play poker in a card room. It passed!! Looks like I don't have to go to Vegas to play a little B&M anymore!

What, specifically, was approved?

Just poker? Or other games too?

Thanks.

Amazing, since Oklahoma also elected the most right wing nut case in the entire country to the senate.

Specifically what was passed -
The horse tracks will now be allowed to have slot machines. This is supposed to "save" the horse industry in OK. Currently the Indian casinos only have class 2 slots. This legislation allows them to have class 3 slot machines with progressive jackpots as well as table games that are not house banked, which means poker and blackjack tourneys where the players play against each other and not the house. I called most of the casinos yesterday and couldn't get any real info on when they'll start having poker. Part of the bill gives some gaming control to the state instead of the tribes so we won't get poker until they put together some kind of governing body. Probably in January.

Tulsa. I am very interested in playing tournies. Don't think I'll play much limit or no limit ring games due to the rake and tiping.

Sandia is building a resort on the property, and plans are to move the poker room to a new location - one option is to move it to the area where no-smoking slots are now located, AND dealers are reporting that the new room will be non-smoking....
