Default Outs/Odds chart

I haven't seen a complete chart drilled down to 40 outs so I figured I'd share mine. I rounded up on the odds. Keeping this chart by my PC has made life easy.

Just do it in your head....your chart won't be there for you when you decide to play live games..

Perhaps using it online will lead to a memorized chart making for better live play.

If you don't see the benefit of this chart then by all means please don't use it. If you somehow think this is -EV to Internet players perhaps you can visit my table and teach me how to better calculate odds.

Maybe I don't follow the chart, but they all seem to be wrong to me.

I never said it was EV-, infact it's probably the opposite. My post was clearly outlining the trouble you might have if you rely on a sheet to give you all of your odds.

You are correct though, in due time you will probably memorize the chart.

Give an example and I will double check your math or explain the chart. I did round up so it's not exact.

Well, the way I read it is that you are saying if you have 1 out and there are 47 unseen cards then your odds of hitting that out next card are 47 to 1.

They're not. They're 46 to 1.

If you are saying if you have 20 outs and there are 40 unseen cards then your odds of hitting one of those outs next card are 2 to 1, then that's wrong, too. The odds are 20 to 20, 1 to 1, or evens.

Every odds number is wrong because you have merely divided the outs into the number of cards unseen.

You have to take off the number of outs from the number of cards unseen, and then divide that answer by the number of outs.

Good job, other than that!

A friend of mine showed me a trick to calculate your outs' odds in your head with relative accuracy... Maybe this is elementary for most ppl on here, but it helped me as far as quickly figuring my pot odds. The answer isn't totally accurate, but it's close enough for estimating on the fly.

Take your number of outs (3 for pairing a hole card, 4 for an inside straight draw, 8 for an open-ended straight draw, 9 for a flush draw, etc.) and multiply by 2. That's roughly your percent chance of catching it on the next card.

Example: 4 to the flush leaves 9 outs. 9 x 2 = 18, so you have roughly an 18% chance or 4.5 to 1 of making your flush on the next card. The actual odds are closer to 19.1% on the turn and 19.6% on the river, but the 18% figure isn't too far off.

I find referencing a chart while playing online makes it easy to memorize outs-to-odds. Now when I play live I simply know the exact odds. I no longer have to make fuzzy conversions in the heat of battle.

What I find harder when playing live is keeping track of the amount of money in the pot. This is something you don't have to do at all online.

Damn I goofed. Sorry. If anyone copied this throw it out.

Now I'm going back to my critters to regain an ego.
