Default Do you raise KQo UTG+1 first in?

There was a long discussion of this type of hand in which Hero came in as the BB with 5 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]6 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img].

I was in a distinct minority that didn't like the call, and the reason I didn't like it was that I would have played the EP raiser for a lot of hands better than this and maybe none this weak. Most people on the other thread dismissed that and treated this as a perfectly reasonable raise from EP.

But I know I've seen other posters whose VP$IP I admire saying they toss a lot of unsuited Broadways in EP, which I don't agree with for KQo, but which I do agree makes a lot more sense than raising with the hand.

The EV of KQo is +.16, below AJo, QTs and even A9s, equal to PP 7 and better than JTs. Is that a raising hand EP to most of you here.

KQo is usually the cutoff point for me for raising unsuited broadways

i really despise openlimping in with this hand, so i raise

Even in EP? How come? I always open-raise in EP with KQo because I still get called by worse hands the whole time, but I don't really see why you would despise open limping with it in EP.

Having said that, I actually hate open limping KJo, even though others have said there is profit there, I pretty much always raise or fold that hand, occasionally limping in LP after a few limpers where I don't want to bloat the pot. But there probably is a point where it's profitable to limp with it, I just hate that. So I sort of know what you mean.

i guess it's really your cutoff point. i muck KJo in early position personally but will gladly limp after limpers IN POSITION.

KQo just seems like a hand that I need to raise if i'm the first one in, I don't know why.

I raise KQo if no one else has yet raised, but not in the blinds and not after gobs of limpers. It limits the field you face and makes postflop play easier IMO.
