no, your flop check is fine. in my opinion the pot was too small to try and steal it from such an early position, if you were CO i might consider betting the flop, but not from BB.
good turn play, you probably have the best hand anyway: a K would bet the flop

That's what I figured.
Also, thanks for emphasizing the position aspect of things here, as I did take that into consideration. However, it's very important to continue to think about position and when one should do what.
