I have brought up this topic to several 2+2ers and other poker players in the area, and they have generally laughed at me. Fact of the matter is that poker in any form is illegal in Wisconsin and in many states outside of reservations, and chances are decent that Internet poker will be in jeopardy with another 4 years of Bush.

I think anyone with an interest in poker needs to take this issue more seriously, and maybe it wouldn't hurt to start a PAC to petition certain officials. It is moderately ridiculous that poker is illegal but I can drive an hour and play B&M all day long. It really is to the detriment of the gov't too, since most poker players would be happy to pay taxes on their winnings if they could do so without risking jail time.

But this is a political issue, not an economic one. If the government was interested in money, marijuana would've been legalized long ago.

Roy is right that people should take action while Joe Average is still interested in poker (although it might be a good idea to wait until after the election since it would be a lot easier to fight if we get a democratic administration).
