Default Amazon.com $30 off offer

If this is considered spam for some reason I apologize.

I was interested in adding to my poker library so I went to Amazon.com to purchase a few books. I ended up getting Theory of Poker, Tournament Poker for Advanced Players, and Positively Fifth Street. All these came to $55.43 after the free shipping option ($25 purchase for free shipping).

However, there's an offer on Amazon's website where you can apply for an Amazon Platinum Visa card. If approved you immediately get $30 off your first purchase using the card. I applied online and was approved in about 30 seconds. All 3 books came to $25.43 after shipping. I thought this was a pretty good deal.

I just thought I'd let everyone know in case they were interested in adding to their poker library and didn't mind the $30 off.

just be careful when doing things like this, as every credit check that gets run will show up on your credit report. And if you have several it doesnt look good

Plus it's a kickback card. Amazon kicks back 1% of all purchases, and a very nice 3% for all Amazon purchases. Whenever you reach $25, they automatically mail a certificate to you.

Man, I'm such a shill.

Common misconception about Amazon.com... they sell a TON more than books. About 4 years ago I won $1000 gift certificate from there. I was happy to win it but also pissed because the first thing I said to myself was "What am I going to do with $1000 of books? I Hate to read!"

Amazon is slowly taking over all commerce on the web...target, toys R us, grizzly tools (to name a few) all sell through amazon.
