Default Cheap Thrills

Two uberfish limp in EP, could have any two and will take them way too far.

I raise in the cutoff with ATo. A solid, yet predictable player who generally has what he represents threebets me from the BB. Both of the uberfish call as do I.

The flop is 653 rainbow. The BB bets, one of the fishies calls and one folds. I raise. Both just call.

The turn is an ace. The BB bets again, fish calls, I fold.

Why bother calling the flop?

There was a good chance BB had unimproved overcards. By putting him between the bettor and the fish, I thought I could muscle him out on the turn by representing a medium overpair.

I don't know what you mean. Criticize the hand or the fact that I posted it, I don't care.

Given your flop raise, I assume that the likely action for a non A/K turn is going to be check, check, [your action]. Consequently, unless the BB is really weak-tight, or the fishy is a risk-taker who is going to bet into you, tell me again how you planned to muscle the BB out on the turn?

Just by betting. He's still caught in between someone representing strength and a fish who could have anything. He's in a tough spot and can find a fold.

Few "solid" players in the BB are going to fold AK on a rag turn here getting 10:1, especially if they do believe you only have some middling overpair.

I still think that you were the one who needed to find the fold on the flop.

So I have to follow through on the river.

I guess you can decide on this flop to try to take down this pot by betting all the way, but that only assumes that the turn and river bring rags (or you get an ace and the BB has an underpair) and that the fish has absolutely nothing. But I would just prefer to fold the flop.
