Default QJo in the BB, passive table.

Prima hand, pardon the bare-bones formatting. Just started playing fixed, no idea what I'm doing just yet...

10-handed, $0.05/$0.10. Hero is BB with Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. UTG+1 posts, UTG folds, UTG+1 checks, field folds to button who limps, SB completes.

Hero raises, UTG+1 folds, button calls, SB folds.

Flop (6 SB): 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img].

Hero bets, button calls.

Turn (5 BB): 9[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]

Hero bets, button raises, Hero folds.

Turn fold too weak? Flop & preflop bets too aggressive?

I don't like the preflop raise. Flop bet is fine, and on the turn you have no clue where you are, so I think folding to the raise is fine, but it's hard to say what your outs are. You're drawing to 3 outs if he's got a straight, but a lot more if he's raising 2pr (unless it's top two). Folding is probably fine.

I think I would call the raise. You're looking at 8:1 pot odds on this call. You have 3 clean outs to the straight, 2 for trips, and maybe some hidden outs if the guy has 2 pairs. If he's got TP, then your Q is most likely an out. I think the guy probably semi-bluffing a flush with an Ax-s.

QJo is way too mediocre of a hand to raise with, especially in BB, where you won't usually knock anybody out (present hand excepted) and you're in bad position for the rest of the hand.

Flop bet is fine. On the turn it's close, but I'd call. You've got lots of outs, and though it's true that you don't know where you stand, I think you'll be good often enough, based on pot odds, to justify a call. Folding isn't terrible though.

I figured I was up against one completely random hand, one LP limper who wouldn't even attempt a steal, and a completion from SB which at this level often means any two. Thought I probably had the best hand and might as well get some value for it.

I'll stop such silliness from now on.
