Re: 1000 dollar buy in live
1800 from antes, 6000 from your raise and his call, 500 SB, 5000 from his raise... 13,300 and 5000 to call? Unless you have a super strong read this is an insta-call IMO.

Re: 1000 dollar buy in live
what about instead of opening you push since you only have 8bbs and invested over a third of your stack?

Re: 1000 dollar buy in live
Easy call with the pot odds you are getting, I would prolly push this PF with 8x BB though....

Re: 1000 dollar buy in live
Call.
Were you at a full table of 10? If you were, the pot was at 3500, when you bet 3000, so you were gviing very good odds to be called by the blinds, it better to just push, especially w/ JJ. Regards, Woodguy |

Re: 1000 dollar buy in live
I can't belive your playing $1000 buy-in tourneys and your asking this simple of a quesiton. Even on celebrity poker on bravo, they understand that this is a simple call, or rather a push preflop in the first place.

Re: 1000 dollar buy in live
The only option i can think of instead of pushing right away, is possibly limp-reraising if its a very aggressive table.

Re: 1000 dollar buy in live
At this point in the tournament, if anyone at my table played they were playing all in. We were 1 away from an increase in money of like 2000 which i forgot to mention (that changed the dynamics of the table and the play) So it was extremely aggressive, but not agressive enough for me to just call hoping for a bluff raise. The 3 to my left I had really good reads on (we've been playing together for about 15 hours without moving). the SB was new to the table so wasnt sure about him, and I knew the BB pretty well. the button and the guy to the buttons right, if they moved here i knew i could lay it down (part of the reason for not out right pushing). They would not play a hand at this point in the tournament without jacks or better. The guy directly to my left was likely to make a move with any pair, so I would have to call any action from him. SB I would have to call with no reads. BB was a really good player, He knew I was pot commited with my raise, and had to be expecting a call when he pushed. He hadn't defended his blinds at all so far in the tourney.
I diddn't like having to face an all in because the best I was hoping for here was a coinflip. Maybe 10's or 9's but unlikely. Ultimately, it was possible he was trying ot push me around hoping I would fold so I could move up in the money. I called because I had to, he turned over AQ off, so I felt ok about it. An ace came so I lost. I think i win this pot if i push here, but I know he calls with AK off because he was looking for a place to defend as I had stolen his blinds about 4 times in the past 2 hours. AJ or worse im hoping for a call. So if i push I win the pot against specifically AQ off, but dont get action from the hands I want. that was my thinking anyway. thanks for the comments. |
