Nationalism

I'd like to state that the concept of nationalism is completely alien to me. I am a strong believer in individualism and free thought and action, and submitting myself to any type of national norms of perspective or behavior is simply not an option. Yes, I am provided many things by the country I live in, but, quite honestly, my mode of living would not be affected all that much if I were to live in many other areas of the developed world. This position may seriously offend many of you here, but what is it about the concept of nationalism that so strongly affects you?
