Complications of the turn.
opponent I have listed as fairly loose. Post flop he's fairly passive. I call 'em Party Passive, it does tend to be different.
Party Poker 15/30 Hold'em (9 handed) Preflop: slavic is UTG+1 with 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. 1 fold, slavic raises, 2 folds, MP3 calls, CO calls, 2 folds, BB calls. Flop: (8.66 SB) 3[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 2[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 7[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (4 players) BB checks, slavic bets, MP3 folds, CO raises, BB folds, slavic 3-bets, CO calls. Re: Complications of the turn.
Yes a check fold is totally wrong. You have to bet the turn.

Re: Complications of the turn.
I cant think of any other way to play the hand other than bet and fold to a raise.

Re: Complications of the turn.
Party Passives - I like that term - are perfectly capable of raising a monotone flop with a king or an ace of trump, or a hand like 6(trump)6x. They're also capable of betting when checked to.
Check-fold is gross. Easy bet-fold. |

So is check fold too weak? [/ QUOTE ] You can't give a free card on that type of board. Bet and make a decision if you get raised. Somehow, I doubt you're getting raised by a passive player as this board is probably looking a bit scary to him as well. |

Exactly, if it's bet call then what do you do? BTW it was bet call, the river is a blank. |

Re: Complications of the turn.
If you check, you're going to have to call, because the size of the pot compared to the chances he missed a flush and took his first chance ever on a bluff dictate it. Since I have to call anyway, I'd tend to bet. You're probably beat based on player description, but maybe he throws away a bigger pair, and the pots big. I doubt your getting raised here, if he didn't pop the turn.

So I bet out on the river without thinking what can he call with? He calls. and shows J9h for the flopped flush.
Of course I'm left wondering why I even take notes. |

Post flop he's fairly passive. I call 'em Party Passive, it does tend to be different [/ QUOTE ] Then why are you playing him like he's capable of betting something other than a much better hand than yours? What is a party 'passive' raising with here on a mono board? Usually it's not a draw. Most passives i know don't bet draws. They bet made hands and fear monsters. Since you 3 bet the flop, you can't just check fold the turn. What's really changed? Think he has a FH? Doubt it. Passives don't tend to jam a set on this flop nor 2 pair. If he was that predictable, you could fold to his flop raise. OR, since he raised and got it HU, you could just check call it down. Not many passives get active only to gt knocked off their hand. When they're active, they're usually seeing the showdown. b |
