Default Waiting for the big blind or posting behind the button

When you enter a new game, where is your preferred place to start?

- waiting for the big blind

- posting the big blind behind the button

If you wait for the BB, you have to post the SB as well, but you get to play the button. If you wait for the button to pass, you are still in good position (CO) and you don't have to pay the SB.

It doesn't really matter.

In a game with 1-3 blinds, I tend to post on the BB if possible.

In a game with 2-3 blinds, I tend to post in the CO.

If an online table has less than 8 active players and I want the table to remain around, I post anywhere.

I hate it when the table starts to get shorthanded and everyone takes off the auto-post button. Then you play this little game of "If he posts I'll post but if he doesn't I won't but if someone else joins I'll post again next time around and either way I'm gonna take 20 seconds to decide". just post or leave, that crap is so annoying.

My rule is, if the small blind comes around and there are two or more empty non-playing seats, I turn the auto-post button off. If the small blind comes around again and there still 2 open spots. I am out. No interest in playing shorthanded, UNLESS the game is filled with little fishies.

It depends where the button is when I'm seated. I much prefer to post in the big blind, because if there is a raise and I have a marginal hand, it's much easier to fold from the blind than it is from the cut off.

Regards, Jim

I post anywhere other than UTG and UTG+1, if you wait a whole bunch of hands to play it doesn't sit well with the other players at the table. The fish don't like it cause you're not there to gambool and the better players realize that your here for $$$, and obviously care what you do with your money. So you get less action afterwards, so i don't think its worth getting a bad image for less than half a big bet.
