Taking a vacation, I'm really excited. I searched google looking for a guide to poker rooms and what limits they offer, but I didn't have much luck.
I'm pretty new to poker and I have only played online and home games, never in a Brick and Mortar card room. I'm only interested in playing hold em and I am on an extremely tight budget. Any info on good places to play and what limits they offer would be very much appreciated. links would also be good. Thanks |

Hotel reccomendations would be good too. I'm looking for bang for the buck, don't care if it's a hotel/casino. There's gonna be a lot of people crashing in the room, so I need as much space for as little money as possible. haha I understand if no one can be of help with this. pretty off-topic I suppose :P

If you want to stay on the strip, the Imperial Palace is relatively inexpensive for the location. You can stay downtown but who really wants to? Off strip for a few bucks, there's a place on Flamingo called the Tuscany Inn about 1/2 to 3/4 of a mile east of the strip that I stayed at. They call them suites but they are actually oversized rooms.
My buddy likes to play poker at the Orleans - that might also be a place to stay. Hope this helps. |

www.pokerupdate.com/lasvegas.htm [/ QUOTE ] Use this link. I was there last weekend and enjoyed my time at the Bellagio and the Mirage the most. Bellagio's lowest limit is 4-8, the Mirage has 3-6. Binion's was also cool in a dingy sort of way. They have lots of 2-4 games. |

The Excalibur has a nice learn to play session around 2pm every day and then it turns into a 1-3 holdem game. Sometimes as many as 3 tables will get going.

I've gotta second the Excalibur advice. But DO NOT stay there unless you're getting the poker discount rate -- its kinda flaky.
They have a ton of tables, and most importantly some very inexpensive, non-intimidating games where you can ease your way into B&M play. By this, I mean they have 1/3 spread limit (a single, $1 blind) where you can bet either $1, $2, or $3 increments, and 2/6 spread limit as well (same concept). They even have a (relatively) inexpensive NL game ($100 buy in) if you're into that kind of thing. The other advantage of Excalibur is that its close to a few other card rooms that small stakes players tend to like. Luxor has twice daily tournaments with a $25 buy in, though the blind/stack structure in these is atrocious. Mandalay has a great 4/8 game with 1 and 2 blinds, making it inexpensive to see a lot of flops (must adjust your standards accordingly). So the idea is that you have options... and options are good. |
