![]() There seems to be a few people around here who think a lot of themselves. We know DSklansky thinks highly of himself, but I think Paul Phillips is starting to show him what's up. What do you guys think? |

I recently posted a question on rgp asking who has the biggest ego as far as their opinion of themselves regarding poker related thinking. I believe I named myself, Phil Hellmuth, Tom Weideman, Gary Carson, Russ Georgiev, Howard Lederer, Mike Caro, and a few others. But a glaring omission was Paul Phillips. So I correct that now. Remember I am not defining ego to be the difference between their opinion of themselves and the truth (By that standard, I would obviously come in last, leaving the epic battle between Russ and Phil.) Rather I want you to rate the absolute value of their opinion of themselves, regardless of it's accuracy.

I wish I could speak highly of myself, but of course I can't without lying.

without a doubt...I love myself the most out of anyone on the forum or in the poker world today.
probably 9 or 10 times a day at least if I'm bored.... Russ Georgiev by a long shot.
The rest of the field is known to the Poker masses as a result of TV, books, tournament success or legend. That in itself can be somewhat of a fuel, as the public acknowledgement in itself is an opiate. It's also a bit of a neccessity if you have something to sell, to promote yourself using your resume as a means of marketing yourself. Russ Georgeiv. Who the hell outside of maybe a few folks 20 years ago ever heard of him, and did they really?. His reknown is from his own claims and posts on a public message board that took on a life of their own. He did a better job of promoting himself than Phil, as he had no documented accoplishments to back his ego. Russ, an unknown, tells the world how great he is, posts a few strategy threads and calls everyone a cheater. You have got to be really hungry to tell the world how great you are with virtually no interested market, yet somehow he created a bit of a niche for himself on RGP. That my friends, is an ego with a mission. |
