Default How much to raise pf when it\'s 2x BB to go (Casino San Pablo)

I was thinking of trying out the casino san pablo sometime (1-2-2 NL, $100 buyin), just to play some NL in person.

There it's $1 on the button (drop) and two $2 blinds, but it's $4 to go. What should a pf raise be here? Usually I'd go to about $6-8, but that's only twice what it costs to open.

Also any advice on dealing with the super small buyin (25x opening?)

I think $12 would be my opener with no limpers, and open for for $16 or $24 with limpers or up front. In these shallow games, you will even find spots to simply push all in after a decent PFR or 8 limpers.

In these games TPTK and overpairs are hands you can back with your stack. Small pairs and suited connectors are less valuable in a shallow game. I would only play them against the bigger stacks or when the price is right.

Shouldn't be much of a need to get fancy in a game like this, simply play your cards well and you should come out with a nice profit.

Yeah, I heard CSP has a NL game now. I thought it was 1-1-2, like Lucky Chances, but apparently not. (In the LC game) My standard PF raise is $12 if I'm opening, or $16-$20 if there are limpers. I usually buy another $100 in $20 chips to re-load if needed. The 25x buy-in is wack, but it actually has a nice feature: it attracts 3/6 players and less experienced players. If you're looking for a bigger NL game, check out the Palace in Hayward. 1-2-2 with a $5 kill; it can get some pretty big action (no cap on buy-in).

Let me know how the CSP game is...

okay

Yeah, I'd be interested how the game is now... I was there a few months ago, only a few days after the game had started. They were going to run it only on weekends, but I'm sure that if its popular like it should be then It'd go everyday. Anyways, it was VERY loose when I was there, and doubling up wasn't too tough as getting allin without overbetting was common on the flop, or if not then easily on turn... One thing that I didn't like though was that they didn't use any $5 chips, only 1's. Gets pretty annoying when the dealer has to count out $18, or $45 bets. I'd love to find a good live NL game in bay area though. Is the Palace game good, or does the uncapped buyin attract too many sharks??

Well, kinda both. There are definitely some good players (you will know who they are after a while at the table), but there are also some weaker players. It has a kill (which I actually don't like) - where you can "kill" it for $5 and make it $10 to go (and you "buy the button" aka are last to act pre-flop), but this adds to the "gamble" of it that some of the weaker players like. So you just have to be prepared to play your strong hands and play them aggressively. It is supposedly the best on Mon or Thu nights - I've only been on weekends. Bad thing is there is usually only one table.

There is a post called "I am more Greek" (or something like that) on here that shows how ridiculous this game can get!

okay

It might be 1-1-2, I'm not 100% sure on that.

I know a couple of guys who have played it, and it seems to be either loose or tight depending on who's at the table. On weekends they also have a must-move table, I think it's popular to play the cash game after you bust from the tournament.

Thanks for the tips everyone.
