Default AK off in EP. Could I have done anything differently?

Let me guys know what mistakes I made and if I could get out of this hand…
Poker Stars, $0.5/$1

Just joined the table, no read on anybody yet.

Hero is in EP with AKoff (suites don’t matter in this hand).
A couple of folds and Hero raises. More folds and one of the MP re-raises . More folds and Button 3-bets . Hero looks at his AK and caps. 3 to the flop.

Flop K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 6 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 2 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]
Hero bets, MP and Button call.
Turn is blank.
Hero bets again, MP raises, Button folds. Hero thinks and calls.
River is blank again, Hero checks, MP bets and Hero calls.

Showdown: MP takes down the pot with KK.

Questions: Should I have folded preflop with my AKoff to 3-bet in EP?
Should I have folded to a raise on the turn?

Thank you

I think you played this fine. Without a definite read that the raiser would only 3-bet with AA or KK you cannot fold pre-flop.

Preflop cap is debatable (some prefer to call a 3-bet with AK, some cap -- I generally cap but it's opponent-dependent). Everything else is super-standard.

Nice hand, sorry you ran up against a nicer one.

i'm confused by the preflop action, it looks like there's 5 bets going in there. unless pokerstars plays like vegas and not like the other online casinos, 4 is the cap.

anyhoo, you played this fine. you shouldn't fold here. just suck it up and call.

The way you described the pre flop action you limped with AK in EP not raised. If that was the case then you should be raising this hand (then MP would have 3 bet).

I am one of those that caps AKo from any position. I guess if you KNEW that your opponent would only raise with AA-JJ pre flop then a 3-bet would be fine.

Other than that the hand looks standard, though unfortunate.

[/ QUOTE ]OK, so you lost the hand, but don't even think about folding this hand pre-flop to 3 bets.

Check-call after the turn raise.

I would have folded to the turn raise, but I am a new player so I'm probably wrong. It seems that everyone is in agreement not to fold to the turn raise. Could someone layout the reasoning for not folding.
I would have put MP on AA-JJ or AK after the reraise. If I was MP I would not turn raise if it was QQ or JJ, which leaves only hands that Hero loses or ties. Where is my error (or errors)?

your error comes in assuming that MP would make rational decisions

seriously, good thought process, but experience at this low limit has shown that opponents will make this play with hands our hero's TPTK beats. and the pot is a decent size, so we call down.

welcome to the bizz-oards

Thanks for the welcome.

So the key here is that the pot is big enough that there is enough chance that MP will do this with bad hands often enough that it's worth a bet or two to see.
