Kent: With our utter annihilation imminent, our federal government has snapped into action. We go live now via satellite to the floor of the United States congress.

Speaker: Then it is unanimous, we are going to approve the bill to evacuate the town of Springfield in the great state of --

Congressman: Wait a minute, I want to tack on a rider to that bill: $30 million of taxpayer money to support the perverted arts.

Speaker: All in favor of the amended Springfield-slash-pervert bill? [everyone boos]

Speaker: Bill defeated. [bangs gavel]

Kent: I've said it before and I'll say it again: democracy simply doesn't work.

Hmmm.... Maybe they're defining those guys that raise & cap every street as terrorists?

Ugh, that's ugly. I hope they're trying to keep the bill as focused as possible and not letting riders to the terrorism sneak in the back door that way.

This isn't the first time that putz has tried that, it looks like, and I'm sure he'll try to work it in again. I guess he's probably well paid to keep it up. The fact that he's the committee chairman is one of the really scary things. Those guys trade favors all the time. Some twisting arms and quid pro quo could make many politicians vote to pass something like this even if they disagreed with it completely, just to get their pet projects into higher favor.
