Default Show your poker knowledge...

Hey guys and girls...think your smart? There was an outstanding post recently in here regarding what info ordinary players often overlook or don't understand, now use it to teach others. I am a novice myself at best, I am pretty good for a novice, but nowehere near where I want to be. I've read a few books. Enlighten me, as well as t=others to your know how. I encourage you to respond to this column like a chapter in a book. Write about a topic, why it is important to understand, and how and when to apply it. I'm sure that all sorts of players from all levels of skill could find this fun and informative. Only one stipulation...don't just spit out something you read unless you say where you read it. Have fun, I look forward to educating myself further.

Why don't you try asking a specific question about something you don't understand?

Otherwise we could start with hand rankings, the composition of a deck of playing cards, why learn to play poker, etc.

I understand your goal, but we're not going to write you a book here.

You will have to do some work yourself.

Welcome to the boards.

Dov

It would be helpful if someone who saves good, informative threads as favorites to list them here.

I know there is at least one person who links to about 10 good topics when it's appropriate.

Read chapter 1. Went from losing a lot to breaking even.

Read chapter 2. Went from break even, to winning, but more variance.

Read chapter 3. My game went to hell.

Doh. Guess I need chapter 4. "Sample size too small".

lol! Im serious though, assuming you are playing relatively low limit, value betting is absolutley imperative, so many people will call you down with any A or even a K or Q, "just to see what you have" or "because they *know* you are bluffing".
