Is This A National Trend?
So gambling is illegal in Oklahoma. No card games for any kind of prizes.
But in Tulsa (and now surrounding areas and OKC), two free poker leagues have started. World Amateur Poker League and Free Poker Oklahoma Are these popping up around the country, or this just the desparation of people who love cards but the man is oppressing. |

[/ QUOTE ] Hell the gov't doesn't even like that! the ABLE Commission tried to shut down the leagues because they were offering gift certificates and t-shirts and such to winners. Thankfully there's at least a state question (warning: 7mb *.pdf) upcoming for the people to vote on that would let indian casinos start offering card games. Right now all we have is video slots and bingo at those things, which makes them pretty much worthless. If this passes, then at least playing cards for a prize of any kind becomes legal. Which reminds me, if you're registered to vote in Oklahoma, vote yes on State Question 712. |
