UTG quiz
Hey everybody. I generally play .25/.50 and .50/1 games. Quick quiz to see how everyone would handle these hands UTG at these limits in loose-passive games. Trying to plug leaks in my game. So- raise, limp, or fold?
1. AQ 2. KQ 3. AJ 4. 99 5. 88-22 6. A8s-A2s Thanks! |

Re: UTG quiz
All of these depend on position and action before me....
AQ in particular---thats a three-bet or fold, with a raise in front of me, depending on player. KQ...well, sOOted or not...because I'm partial to sooted KQs. (hehe..pun, KQs). AJ....position, anyone? 99 Raise, anyunraised pot, from anywere 88-22 Limp, raise with the upper end if folded to me in LP A8s-A2s....Limp, from anywere, raise if folded to me in LP Th |

Re: UTG quiz
I play Party .5/1, and right now I go
1) AQ Raise 2) KQ Raise 3) AJ Raise 4) 99 Call 5) 88-22 Call 6) A8s-A2s Call Although, I'm unsure if call might be better for KQ and AJ...but how to play these little offsuit broadway cards pf is a point of confusion for me . |

Re: UTG quiz
I'm raising AJ anywhere. This is more to limit the field than anything, I think. AJ offsuit isn't a very big drawing hand and I'd like any random kings and queens folding to improve my chance of a pair of jacks holding up.
Same thing with KQ. If I can fold a random ace, I've improved my chances of winning. But of course, I can see the plausibilities of just limping. If your AJ or KQ gets played back at, you're probably screwed. |

Re: UTG quiz
I'm not raising AJo or KQo UTG....even in some 1/2 games. Why? Because I'm only leaving better opponents PF. Even just a couple of slices back in position makes me feel better about AJo. KQo....well, this is a hand that is hugely overrated in EP, in my limited opinion.

Why? Because I'm only leaving better opponents PF [/ QUOTE ] I'm not really sure what this means. Are you saying that only better hands will call you? If so, thats just not true. Many opponents will still call you with much worse hands, hands that you have dominated. |

Re: UTG quiz
Certainly....however,
[ QUOTE ] This is more to limit the field than anything, I think. [/ QUOTE ] If you can successfully limit the field in your game with a PF raise from EP with, say, KQo....than what precisely are you limiting it to? My argument wasn't that worse hands won't call...my argument that was in game conditions where you can fold out marginal hands, a raise with a weak big connector isn't that great a move-- ie. it limits the field to those who beat you, or have a decent edge on you. |

Re: UTG quiz
1. Raise
2. Raise 3. Raise or Fold (depending on how loose, if I can't limit the field I'm just going to drop it) 4. Raise or Call (I assume I'll have 3-4 callers at least if I raise, I wouldn't raise if I limit it to exactly 3-4 callers) 5. Limp or Fold (Many loose games still don't have the automatic number seeing the flop to warrant it, especially ones where there's a good enough chance there will be an EP raise) 6. Limp |
