Default First time playing in a casino....

I have been lurking for a month or so....but this is my first post!

I have a table image question. How much money should I change when I first sit down to a 1/2 or a 2/4 holdem game? I would like a stack that says I here to play but not so big that I look silly.

1/2 probably $30.
2/4 probably $60, but you can get by with $50. Anything more than $60 looks ridiculous and "fish-like", IMO.
Good luck, and don't be nervous!!!

$60 in a 2/4 game? your nuts.

I think a standard buy-in is about 25BBs.

For 1/2 I'd probably buy in for $60 (just because its usually easier than $50)
at 2/4 make it $100.

i buy in for 25bb live as well. maybe thats because i learned on the internet. if that makes people drool and think im a fish then i would count that as a positive. i cerainly dont feel like i have a GIANT stack of chips when i do it.

eh, well hey man, do it then. I never really paid all that much attention to the amount you buy in for. I just know that when I played 2/4, I found $60 to be plenty of money.

I'd rather be the guy that looks "fishy and ridiculous" with a $100 buy in than the guy who looks like a chump going up to the cage to re-buy every half-hour, or pestering the dealer for chips $20 at a time.

Plus, it's not like $100 dollars worth of $1 chips takes up half the table space.

Thanks for the comments guys. I think that 25bb sounds reasonable.
