Default Do you raise here?

Big Blind 8 people enter, you have AQ suited. No raise... Loose table...I am debating with my friend...he says not to raise. I say raise for value. You wont get anyone to fold but you should capitalize on your preflop equity...he says check...Who is right?

You are. You win much more than your fair share, so you gain every time someone with a smaller chance of winning puts money into the pot.

FOLD!!! AQ in the big blind is a horrible hand.

RAISING for value is not a bad play either.

You should win more than one in eight with AQ suited from any position. Raise.

Unlikely that you'll lose more than one or two marginal handed rocks with a preflop raise from BB.

Tell your friend that in addition to this being one of the easiest raises in the world, he should also be raising AJs, ATs, QKs, KJs, and possibly QJs.

the correct option is that you're both WRONG. you should just auto-fold.

With 8 limpers, he definitely should be raising QJs

JTs yes, small pocket pairs probably not, I'd be more inclined to raise them on the button for a possible free turn card.
