Raising with Aq and AK in limit preflop
First off, 70% of the time from what I understand you won't catch an ace or king. Isn't that the same percentage of an overpair flopping with like 6-6 or 7-7. So essentially raising with AK is like raising with 6-6 or 7-7, 2/3rds of the time your hand is worthless. Anyone who wants to correct me please do so.

[/ QUOTE ] Wrong. 1 - A-high might still be the best hand. 2 - If you hit your A or K, you very likely have the best hand and it's likely to hold up. If no overcard flops to your 77, you still may be behind a bigger pair, and there is a straight draw on board. You aren't happy with any turn or river card (unless it's a 7 or completes your straight draw), and most of the time you won't be able to drive the betting (meaning you won't get as much value when you win). 3 - If you miss the flop, you may still have odds to call one flop bet to catch your A or K; you very likely won't have the odds to call to catch your 6 or 7. |
