Default 15-30 SHORTHANDED..............

The game is 15-30.....5 players. UTG Calls, folded to button who raises. This player will play ANY two cards...believe me. He showed 6-2 off in a capped pot!!! I am serious here. SB folds....I in the BB with QT off call as does UTG. Flop is QJ4 rainbow. I check...KNOWING the button will bet with ANYTHING. UTG checks and as I thought the button fires away. I check raise because I honestly feel I have the best hand. UTG folds and button 3 bets. I call. The turn and river are blanks and I check call all the way with top pair. Button flips over JJ for the set. tell me...what could I do differently? I have top pair with marginal kicker...heads up against a fool that will play anything? Please....all constructive opinions welcome!

1. try to make your posts cleaner and easier to read.

2. this post just sounds like you are whining about losing a pot.

3. you said he is a manic preflop, but is he a non-stop bettor post flop as well?

4. i would play the hand the same way.

Even against the fools, sometimes you're the dog and sometimes you're the hydrant.

The UTG had you beat preflop.Your preflop call is questionable. You played a "trouble hand " against a better hand up front and a late position raise by a manic who as you said "could have anything" .You could have waited for a bettor spot. You should not have called the raise originally.

relax, take a deep breath and chill.

he had jj this time but from what you said he'd play preflop the same way if he had j2 or jx...and how does the utg play? is the maniac a REAL maniac? or is he one preflop and then reasonable post flop? personally i mighta gone another raise somewhere maybe the turn or river if he is a postflop maniac as well. but anybody who tells you to fold QT against a guy who raises light and plays 62 for 4 bets is nuts. i mighta 3 bet to try to get UTG out preflop also (would utg fold for 2 bets?, whats your image? do you appear tight to him? could he realize isolation plays?)

but your reaction to losing a pot in which you were behind the whole way is something you need to check at the door when you come to play poker...next hand, new game new state of mind..
