Default Spider trapped in jar

OK I was just pootling along in a little £2 tournament when a freakin' huge spider comes speeding along the hall carpet, I managed to chuck a glass jar on top of him and now I can see him bashing around in there trying to get out.
Now, my question is, what to do with him.
Should I try the old slide-the-paper-underneath trick? What if it slips and he leaps out. I'm telling, you this mother is huge; you wouldn't want him anywhere near your face!
Should I just leave it overnight and hope it dies so it can be removed without risk?

Speedy answers appreciated! (I think he's just going to lift that jar and go for the jugular if I hang around)

instead of a piece of paper, use a piece of cardboard. that way it won't bend and send the spider falling onto the carpet where he can scamper over to your PC and put you all-in with 83o in a PP $50nlhe hand.

I found myself in that very predicament about five days ago. I threw a glass over this huge spider and wondered what to do next. I decided to tip the glass over a little bit and scare him into the glass by moving my hand in from the other side. This did not work and I literally screamed like a little girl as the spider went towards my hand instead of away. My roommate and I must have laughed for about 10 minutes at my scream.

Anyway, it has been 5 days since the spider has been captured. He is still kicking it and this is without food or water......and me pounding on the glass every chance I get. I wanted to send a message to all the other spiders in the house.

if you really want to be mean, and wwf or ufc gets you off, toss another spider into the jar and let them at it. highly entertaining in a sick way.

I wouldnt like to subject another spider to this mean bastard... I swear he's got little red gloves and a gum shield on.

wow.....this is funny. I put another spider in the jar a few days back and there is nothing but legs left of him. I didn't see it, but I wish I had. I guess I did feed him.....but it looks like the spider's days are numbered. He is moving very slowly and is no longer raring back, ready to stike, when I thump the glass.
