Making the transition from online to live play in NL
I am a solid $25NL player on a few sites. Has anyone gone from playing online NL to playing NL live 1/2 blinds? Is the play different?
I have played in a casino before mostly 5/10 Omaha 8/b. Any advice? Thanks |

Casino games are a lot better in my experience. My biggest piece of advice would be to get used to throwing around a lot more $$ than you are used to. Play tight to begin with and get a feel for playing pots two or three times your normal buy in. Apart from that just play solid poker.

Re: Making the transition from online to live play in NL
I mostly play $.25/.50 NL on UB and have been doing decently. I found the $2/4 NL game at Mandalay Bay about the same level of difficulty, but with a wider gap in skill level between the best and worst players at the table. So most of the time I had to treat the best players with care and win pots against the weaker players. And seeing and listening to the players in person obviously gives you more information to work with.

A 1/2 live game will generally be fishier than an online 25 game. Get used to preflop raises the the 5-8x BB range. Can be very profitable, just sit back and wait for good hands.

Justin A [/ QUOTE ] all true, and the raises can be more like 10x-12xBB. i generally increase mine from the standard 4x online to 5 or 6x live, and my raises are still small for the table. also, i've noticed that the bets don't rise with the level of the pot as much as online. that is, you'll see a $150 pot and a $10 bet and a $25 raise pretty frequently. |
