How many times have you laid down KK preflop?
Maybe the wrong forum, just wondering how many times the more experienced players around here have laid down Kings. Phil Hellmuth said on the WSOP that he's only laid them down four times now, I thought it was low for the length of his career.

Re: How many times have you laid down KK preflop?
Depends. Higher quality players at the table are more likely them when you raise 4x and someone reraises 4x that they got the AA. Happened to me 5 times(2/4NL, at lower limits no one ever showed me aces) and I never could lay them down. I won once hitting trips. Lost once when we both hit trips and lost 3 other time when no improvement. It depends. Some of my friends believe that if you ever lay down KK then you're playign with scared money. I am hesitant. I say if your opponent is really tight than you might consider it(if he's not a tricky type who takes advantage of his image/play occassionally). However, I can never do it, considering the odds of both him and I having KK and AA. But most good players won't push with just AK or QQ at higher limits, so odds fly out the window when you know your player.

Re: How many times have you laid down KK preflop?
I laid KK down in a tournament online once to a limp reraise and then another one all in. Turns out I was against QQ and JJ. Never again online.

Tosh,
How many times when that happens do you think you'll be up against QQ and JJ? I think it was a good lay down and if you were on the bubble, or will be in the future again when that situation reoccurs, you'll probably do it again Kirk R. |

Re: How many times have you laid down KK preflop?
One night in the HP 5/10 PL game Gary (dont know last name but sprays alot) raises the straddle UG and makes it $55 straight. I look down and see KK, I make it $150. Joe Nguyen (very tight but capable of a strange play or two...but hes my buddy so we stay away from each other) makes it $350. I have about 2K and he and Gary have me covered. I look at him for about 10 secs and muck. Gary calls and trys to bluff Joe off his hand to no avail. Joe has AA.
Only time I've ever mucked them and I was right. Of course, there were several times I SHOULD have mucked and got broke... Tuco. |
