Getting away from TPTK?
Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $1 BB (9 handed)
CO ($239.24) Button ($38.55) SB ($46.50) BB ($22.70) UTG ($45.50) UTG+1 ($149.25) Hero ($86.50) MP2 ($47.71) MP3 ($50) Preflop: Hero is MP1 with A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. MP3 posts a blind of $1. UTG folds, UTG+1 calls $1, Hero raises to $5, MP2 folds, MP3 (poster) folds, CO folds, Button folds, SB calls $4.50, BB folds, UTG+1 calls $4. Flop: ($17) T[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (3 players) SB checks, UTG+1 checks, Hero bets $20, SB raises to $41.5 (All-In), UTG+1 folds, Hero calls $21.50. Turn: ($100) 2[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players, 1 all-in) River: ($100) Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players, 1 all-in) Final Pot: $100 On the all in check raise on the flop I was willing to bet that he had TT, but as aggressively as I had been playing recently it was possible that he was trying to check raise with AQ or something, I figured 4 to 1 on my money justified a call. This was a flop that I wanted to win right here, big enough pot and straight/flush possibilities out there, but was overbetting the flop the wrong move? Is there anything I can do to get away from hands like this or do I have to pay off the sets when they hit against me on great flops like this? |

Re: Getting away from TPTK?
its a tough position. since has only 20 behind, and you are getting 4:1 on your money, its a pretty easy call. he will have a flush draw or a lower ace enough of the time. if his stack is any larger, it becomes closer. of course, you dont have to overbet the flop, so you give yourself a chance to fold if somone comes over the top. when you overbet, you better be calling a push by that stack
