Default pacific 10k NL tournies

Are these players seriously bad in these tournies? I'm just a newbie, and been playing only on stars, but from watching the play in one tourney last weekend, I was floored at some of the plays I saw. Are players here especially bad, or have I just been exposed to a much higher level at stars or something? Or am I totally off?

I think that they are very bad. So bad that it just does not make any sense.

Just played my first one. $10 guarantee. Not enough starting chips, too fast levels, I had to pay BB twice in a row, 8 players a table... felt like 50% turbo tournament or something.

Not something I will attend again.

my friend told me of this hand that happened tonight, late in the tourney.

folded to him in CO, raised to steal with A7 (not sure how much, my guess is standard raise). BB calls. flop is 722. BB checks, my friend goes all in, BB calls with 82

You would think that the later it gets in the tournament that the better the play and tighter...not the case at these tournaments. I won one of them though and have placed in the top 20 4 times. All you gotta do is make it to the first intermission with about the avg stack size and you should place in the money. BTW half the field or more is usually gone by the first half hour!!!!
