First hand in PS tourny, I am SB with 78s
2 other calls other than BB, I complete BB calls. Flop: K48 with K and 4 of my suit. I bet 80 (pot). BB folds, limper raises me to 400. I fold - is that the right move? |

Bad. You should move all-in here. You are a favorite over hands like AK, KQ. Even if he has a set you aren't in bad shape. Plus, your raise is big enough that you will fold him sometimes. Typically the monstrously big raise does not meant a really big hand, I would expect you to have 14 outs here. I'd be interested to see if others agree with me here.

I don't play online, so I don't know what starting stacks are....If they are 1500, I would push, if they are 1000 I would fold.
You need folding equity for this hand...even though you are a favorite over most one pair hands, you still have a good shot of only ending up with middle pair. The only hand you are really behind are a set and K8...both are possible holdings, but this raise can easily mean another flush draw... The reason I fold if stacks are 1000 is that you will rarely find someone who is willing to reraise w/ 40% of their stack and fold for the rest on the same street. You wouldn't really want to flat call the 400 since a blank on the turn is going to be tough to play. |

![]() Hmm, somewhat close I think. If you assume 1500 in chips (PStars staring amt, right?). My initial reaction was fold. You have no read it’s still early, you are coinflip to improve if you have all your outs, against set or two pair you are behind, and if he’s a bad bluffer then you’ll catch him soon enough. Then I thought some more (and read MLG and Soss, lol) and figure, this is not too scary a board and it’s a good bluffing spot. I think a set or two pair would want to make you make a mistake with a 9 or 5 outer so would want you to put in another 200 or so, for a 300 chip bet – so this slight overbet seems more like TPGK or Axs, maybe 99 that wants you to go away, and he should figure TPGK is ahead of a SB that completes. So I guess I put him on a hand that will have to fold to an all-in. You also have a big overlay with a coinflip, and are ahead of any flushdraw. And then there is the “Hyperaggressive Monkey on the First Hand Principle” So I come out of the tank and push --Greg |
