Blackjack question
In a vegas double deck blackjack game when do they reshuffle? Do they deal through the whole deck?
Do they use a cut card, and if so do they stop and reshuffle exactly at the cut card? Do they go beyond the cut card at all if they need to finish the hand? Do they stop and reshuffle before they get to the cut card if only a couple cards are left? When exactly do they reshuffle a singele deck game? Also do they allow double downs after splitting in the double deck games? Thanks for any help |

Re: Blackjack question
i think ive got this one, as ive ONLY played live double deck. They do not use a cut card, they stop when there is 1/2 of 1 deck left. That is what the dealer told me. The other questions you asked vary from place to place.

Re: Blackjack question
"In a vegas double deck blackjack game when do they reshuffle?"
At a point determined to be optimal by the individual casino, based on avoiding down time shuffling to keep the hands per hour rate up balanced with the ease of card counters gaining advantage, subject to change at any time. "Do they deal through the whole deck?" Not since 1962. Although there is a game in Mississippi that deals thru the whole deck, but blackjacks pay even money making the game a losing proposition for the player. "Do they use a cut card, and if so do they stop and reshuffle exactly at the cut card?" Almost all places use a cut card. They stop and shuffle if the cut card comes out at the start of a new round before any cards are dealt, else they complete the round the cut card has come out on, and then shuffle. "Do they go beyond the cut card at all if they need to finish the hand?" Yes. "Do they stop and reshuffle before they get to the cut card if only a couple cards are left?" The cut card is usually placed between 1/2 and 1 decks remaining, so there is never just a few cards left after the cut card. "When exactly do they reshuffle a singele deck game?" It varies. Some places deal a fixed number of rounds before a shuffle (sometimes 5 or 6 hands to an individual player, 3 or 2 rounds to 2 players, 2 rounds to 3 players, 1 round to a full table) . Some places, just shuffle when the deck "feels" small. Dealers usually get fired if they ever run out of cards in the middle of a round. "Also do they allow double downs after splitting in the double deck games?" Some do, some don't. Rules and conditions vary from casino to casino, and even table to table. |
