Default Anyone else see any merit in this(modified stop loss)?

I understand the principal of a stop loss and have tried to use on in the past. However I think I see a runnning trend that if I sit down at a 5/10 table with 250 and drop down to 200(below what I would consider a real stop loss level), that it is an indication of what a longer session at the table may be like.

Perhaps its mostly in my head and is because I play differently(read...poorly), if I lose the 1st few hands that I play. However, whatever the reason, I have started using that 200 level as a stop lose and think it may be saving me money.

Anyone else have similar feelings? Any and all comments are welcome.

Thanks, Evan

If dropping 5BB makes you change your play, you're playing a little cash-scared. Are you bankrolled for 5/10?

Oh yea I have plenty of bankroll. Maybe I didnt phrase that correctly, nor am I really sure how to make it right. My larger point is that I think I have found a trend that if I win a hand or two soon after sitting down then I will tend to do well in that session.

I know that this is not a "real" fact or anything, was just wondering if anyone else noticed this in there sessions. I have, many times dropped quickly at the start and came roaring back, it just seems that I do better if I change tables if not off to a good start.

You should not be looking for patterns where there are none. You lose 5BB when someone hits a gutshot against you and you want to get up from that table?

There is No Merit to your idea that you should stop playing at a table after a loss of 5BB. If you are aggressive, this would probably be just a single hand that did not win in the first 5-10 minutes of play. Silly.

I usually am stuck 10BB (playing 2 tables) or more before I win a pot. Sometimes I am stuck for a half-hour before I catch a big pot or two and then am in good shape. You can't quit after a single loss.
